Measuring Points

Post by amayotte »

Does anyone know what points inside the cabin can be used to make sure the boat is level when in drydock?
I am building some stuff where level makes a difference but am unsure where to reference level from when adjusting the trailer.

Thanks,
adam

Woo, tough one. Could we say that whatever surface is level when the boat is at rest in calm waters is a good ref point for level on the trailer ?

When I assembled/leveled my galley in the water I did it early on morning on flat water, but I have no idea if that really means anything !

Another semi-lucid thought. If the mast is plumb on the boat (and the manual says it is until you introduce bend), then wouldn't the top of the mast step be a good spot to reference level on the trailer ?

Ya, I went ahead and used the mast compression post as a reference...then I double checked that against the quarter berth leading edge. They both are level at the same time so I am then assuming the boat is level.

Thanks,

Well if it was a C-22 I would use a line from the bottom side of the deck on each side inside the cabin, don't know if the 26 has a similar situation.

ok, what are you building? holding tanks? a counter? also the trailer or cradle may not be level, but the way you phrased your question.. you understood that.
