Looks like at one time the keel cable broke, the keel swung forward and smacked the trunk. It doesn't feel "soft" but was dripping and was still wet Thursday morning. Could this be where the water was leaking intot he port keel pin locker and the aft port locker in the C22? Water coming in here would go where?
I don't understand enough about how the upper and lower hull are put together, sure looks like water could leak in here but not sure where it goes.
As soon as it dries out I'll sand it out, then do an epoxy and flox repair, and cover it with two layers of Biaxial glass on a 45 degree bias to protect it. Once it's painted to cover it I may make another lake trip to check for leaks again. Do you guys use peel-ply when you do glass work? Of just sand it out?
I did check the keel plates from what I could see look ok:

I do plan to raise the boat, drop the keel to sand blast it and paint it. Will check the rest of the trunk and plates then.
