Clevis pin sizes

Hi, I'm new to the forum and I'm trying to help a friend get their 22' out on the water. It's very exciting to see so many sailing Chrysler's.

We're missing the clevis pin where the forestay attaches to the bow plate.

The documents at this site are wonderful. Although there are great pics of this attachment point there doesn't seem to be any reference to the actual size of the pin that goes here.

These wonderful documents also contain a listing of the small parts bag and the sizes of the clevis pins in it. 1/4" x 1 1/2", 1/4 x 9/16" and 3/6" x 1/2".

None of the marine stores seem to carry these sizes. We have a local Fastenal that can get them but before ordering I was hoping to narrow down the size. My other concern was if there are other size clevis pins on the boat that are not listed in the small parts bag and if so is this one of them?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All new blooders... and old for that matter are welcomed on this forum. Sorry but I'm tinkering on a C26 myself. Why not just order one of each size, they are all sure too come in handy sometime down the road.

Mine is not "correct" but I have a 1/4 inch shackle similar to the one for the swing keel. Mine is stainless and from either Lowes or Tractor Supply.

Thanks for your replies.

I bought a rigging kit at West Marine when I was down in Newport last week and when I got back to the hotel I found this site and then the small parts bag list. So none of the clevis pins in the rigging kit matched the parts bag list. So I returned it. Thinking now I should have probably kept it.

The pins are rather cheap, I guess I am just more concerned with having the the right one on hand when we organize some help and drive to the lake to get her out on the water.

Is it likely that there are many other sizes of pins used that are not listed?

So far we've only been cleaning. Hope to get some pics soon and will post them.

Hi Lynda, Welcome...another option would be to measure the hole diameters and the length of span needed to secure the pin with a cotter pin or ring.

The side stays are all the same so you will need 8 of those for top and bottom...etc. You get the idea.

Mine uses the 1/4 X 1 1/2 clevis pin. My guess is the extra length with a hole that close to the deck makes it easier to put on the ring keeper.

Good luck getting the boat on the water, and then you will hear a chorus of "picutres please" from this crowd.
