Today I raised the mast for the first time since purchasing my boat. Many thanx to all who have posted on mast raising...I utilized the bridle design that Mariner posted...thanx Tony.
I needed to put mast up so the standing rigging could be set...now I will take mast down and ship rigging to SecoSouth for new to be made.
The only problem that I encountered was the fact that the mainsheet was way too short to be used as block and tackle...luckily I had a Klein block and tackle rated at 750 lbs in the garage and it was the perfect length...4 to 1 purchase...seemed to work out fine.
I will definitely fabricate a dedicated gin pole with proper attachment points for lines. Sorry no pics or vids...my daughter's boyfriend helped out and we had our hands full putting mast on boat and hooking up all the rigging. Maybe I'll run video when we take her down.
raised mast for the first time...

It's Monday morning and I needed a good laugh... Bill nice to hear your mast went up with little trouble. Report back on your new rigging from SecoSouth, will need new rigging myself in the future. Sadly it will be sometime before my mast goes up. Here is a web page on a gin pole that I may use when the time comes. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt ... CB0Q9QEwAQ

Terrence my boom has the hole in the aft end but I chose to go to 1" black pipe and a cap that I drilled a 5/8" hole in the center and 2 eye bolts through the forward end works great and extra length gives extra leverage.
Catch the wind and ride the wave, Have fun
