Boat names
Hello all,
My C 22 which came to me last fall was resurrected by a fine older gentleman who's name was George, he had named her for his wife, The Judy A. After having a few health problems and some problems with his knees his wife insisted that he had to give her up. I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time and get the benefit of all the work George has put into her. I did decide to change the name, and have considered several, I have no doubt she will pick her own name but at the moment Catch 22 seems to be a very likely choice.

Now I was considering using the name Kokezaru (my handle on this board) which means Foolish Monkey in Japanese - which you might all agree seems appropriate for owning a sailboat. But after a while I started to think that something more suitable was needed. I sometimes spend way too much time naming things. I had come up with about ten different possibilities, but I decided on "Imori".
Now I am not Japanese, but I like the culture and the words sound cool. I was kind of obsessive with what I wanted - Three syllables, had to be easy to pronounce, sound good over a radio, and have some kind of a meaning that matched.
Imori, in Japanese, refers to the "Fire bellied newt", (though the literal translation means "Guardian of the Well"). I think it fits the bill. Newts are amphibious, which matches a trailer sailor. Fire bellied - my C26 has a red hull. And, well I think newts are cool.
Was that a little too obsessive?

Well,my 26 didnt have a name when i bought her and I couldnt decide on what to name her,then she sank in her slip,I raised and repaired then put her back in and no problems so far,my original plan was to buy her,restore her,enjoy. I did that and am now starting over so I think im going to name her Plan B.

Hi all I just traded for a C-22 that needs a few things to get it sea worthy, but I'm already obssesed. http://good-times.webshots.com/album/568869392suwBrk
I don't know if it ever had a name so we are calling it "Southern Wind" It has alot to do with me being a yankee living in the south.
The plans are to sail on one of the lakes here in NC and then take her to the coast in hope to catch the southern wind to the Virgin Islands.

Nice boat, looks just like mine.
The hull colors that is. Same light blue stripes. My interior is the same light blue mixed with a darker blue weave pattern on the cusions.
From the pictures it looks like you've got a good start on cleaning her up and getting her ready to sail.

Its a 1975 that has only been used less then 10 seasons and only on local lakes. everything thats there is in very good shape, its a mystery where the missing stuff is.
I made the table leg from a stairwell rail and was given a motor and trailer for it, ss as soon as I can find a boom and sails,you can bet I will be spending alot of time on it.

boat name
I have just got my C22 and she had no name before. I got to thinking with the state Chrysler is in "CHAPTER 11" might be a good name. Then on reading the history of Chrysler boats and how they had to sell the boat division the last time the Government bailed them out "de-ja-vu" might be appropriate.
Then I decided to name her the same as my last boat "Wai Whare"
these are two maori words, meening water and house and also describes the feeling I get when sailing.
My First boat was a Flying Ant dingy so what else but "Sweet F/A"

I wanted to get into sailing when I went out in a friends boat. Then I did a 12 meter fun race on true north in st, martins, I was hooked I started looking for a boat headroom, swing keel ,easy to trailer the Chrysler 26 fit the bill. One day in may 08 I went to north star sail club off lake St, Clair to sign up to crew when I saw her she was dirty and nasty with mold and other junk all over her. I found out the po get her new in 77 the po hurt his back and it has not moved for five years he's 85 so he gave it to the junior sail club I got it for 700 and free sailing lessions. It was called scampi but I really like to heel a lot so we call her Full Tilt, she looks like new with a full refit I joined north star so it will be there for a long time to come.
