new owner

Hi, I just purchased a 1977 C26 in Leesberg Al. Towed it back to colorado with a f150 truck that has a 6 cylinder. No problems if kept at 60 mph. Anyone know the history of the Abby Too? From what I know, She has been sailed to the Bamahas twice. The previous owner says he was in 16ft breaking seas, and the boat did fine. He added over size standing rigging, and new chainplates. It has been sitting since 2002. 6in of water above the sole from rainwater. The rudder is non rectractable, maybe you saw the pictures on Ebay. A little rough from sitting, but it seems ot be all there. Hope to be asking you all many questions in the future. thanks, mainsheetmike

Forget it, I found the listing. Sounds like it's got gear, unlike mine, which is good. Four stroke kicker is definitely a bonus! No interior pics - why are there never interior pics on those listings ??? Looks it might have original finish, too - better original than bad re-finish!

Hello and welcome aboard,i saw the boat on ebay and made bid but the price went a little high for me, the boat was only about an hour north from me and i was looking to buy low for the trailer and the boat for spare parts as i have a 78 c-26, anyway welcome aboard and you will love the boat as everyone here does.

Thanks for responding, Yea, it went a little high for me too, but Iv'e been trying to get a C26 for 4 years. Was always getting beat by $200, so this time I went for it. Boat angel hires pro photographers in the area to get pictures. He couldn' get into locked boat to get pictures. Cushions are great, new covers, foam is firm. new wiring, vhf radio, 6 salils compleet with 7year old canned food .

We talked about it in here when the add first came out. I think the rudder its a mod for shoal waters. And don't worry about the price, I paid 900 bucks more for my 22 , and there was water in the cabin too from all the unsealed hardware on deck. It took me a while, but I got everything fixed up and now I love that little boat.

Yeah, I bought it in Bloomington, Indiana after finding it on craigslist. I was seriously considering several Southcoast 26s before finding this boat - of which I'm glad!! Bringing it across was real easy - I just needed the titles and bills of sale for the boat and trailer. I had to pay provincial & federal tax (total 12%) on the boat and federal tax (5%) on the trailer. I'll have to pay 7% prov. tax on the trailer when I register it. The trailer was easy because it was over 15 yrs. old which excluded it from RIV regulations which would have cost another ~$200. fee plus possible problems with motor vehicle safety standards. Border Services didn't even come out to look at the boat or my car - I guess I have an honest face!!

Monty, I was also looking at a SC26. I'm glad for choosing the C26.. they seem like a more seaworthy boat. Good luck with your new boat, hope to keep in touch while sorting out the new challenges.
