Well... It's official!

Post by adamh »

After months of preperation and anticipation, I have finally joined the ranks of the elite group of Chrysler Sailors. We took the "Alpha" up to Lake Mille Lacs for a weekend of sailing. I couldn't be happier how the boat performed. I do have to admit, I had a major case of the first time jitters. Both the launching and retrieval went very smooth. The only issue I had was during the mast raising, the starboard shroud must have gotten hooked on something and pulled itself out of the groove on the spreader. Unfortunately I didn't notice it until we were out about 3 miles and having an awsome sail. Sadly had to lower the sails and motor back in. :( I found out that dropping the mast on a rocking boat in the water is not something I ever want to do again. Oh well, rookie mistake and next time I will check it before the mast goes up. For months I have been reading how much fun these boats are to sail, now I understand what all the fuss is about! :D

Sounds awesome! Just getting on the water and turning the motor off is one of my favorite things!
Congrats and be glad you'll not likely EVER do that again! It all gets easier with experience! So keep doing it!!
