C22 stern rail

Hey guys! Tim again.

When sailing my boat home (only sail we had) I noticed the stern rail is in disarray. The top popped off the supports, which is easy to fix by addressing the set screws but it leads me to a bigger question.

The whole rail seems flimsy at best. Perhaps mine is aftermarket...? Anyhow, has anyone addressed making a stern rail modification so you can safely lean against the rail while sailing? I see pics of people doing this all the time, so in the interest of safety, was wondering if anyone had addresses this?

Excellent suggestions! I will start looking for solutions. I do not have a west marine, just mom and pop marine places round here. I will check them our though.
