Don't know much about it, but it must be a good day for sailing, so I will do that. My solo shake down sail, lick to have the first sail of the season to my self.

Thank you, I had good luck. Got Home! Weather called for, 10 to 15 knot winds, wrong more like 15 to 25. I went out the river in to the lake, spry coming over bow. An I was getting wet, will I'm out hear I will just use the head sail. Puled the line on the roller furling an the sail wont come out. I put a bolt in the roller furling so it wont unwind. I'm mean to take it out when leaving the slip, I forgot to remove it an now was not the time to remove it boat rolling on it's side every time a wave came. So back to my slip I go. Shake down completed, now ready to sail.

Glad your first sail went 'fairly' well Bob. Roller furling?... you can look forward to using that on the next sail now : ) At least you were smart enough not to take on passengers. Sunday was the first cruise in the C20. I had five others along, grinding their teeth at me to move faster while at the launch. It took me an hour to take down the mast again and redo all the stays I had placed in the wrong positions while readying at the house, along with other first sail fumblings (darn A.D.D.). Better to fix things up at the dock than in the middle of the lake though. I've done that more times than I wish to admit!

Glad you had a great time! Sorry about the bolt in the roller furling! But hey! Sounds like a grand day either way!

If I may comment on the roller furling . . . . . .
If you''ve never used it before keep in mind a few things.

When you infurl the sail it can catch the wind and unfurl itself which is great and easy. The problem is the furling line. If you simply let it run free it will roll up in the furling drum as expected however it will be a very LOOOOOOSE roll. You DO NOT want that! If this happens, when you go to Furl your sail or put it away, the drum will tighten up and creat a knot! YIKES! Now you can not put away that sail! Even bigger yikes! You MUST keep some tension on the furling line as it rolls up in the drum. Not much, just a tiny bit but some is required!

Same thing when furling it. Keep some slight tension on the jib sheets to insure a night tight role of the sail. Not SUPER tight, just snug!

Do this and you'll not have knotting issues!

Yes Scott I found that out last year. The drum on my furling is large so I use a 3/8 line on it. Makes it easy to let out, as much sail as I wont. The sail came off the GREAT WINDWORD but I don't sail like Jeff. Bruce you only need to remove the four stay an the two forward stays to drop the mast. Shore you know that all ready. I may be pulling my C-20 out from its cover, an put it in a slip. Too much fun to sail to leave it sit another year, an only one year left on the registration. I plain to make a mast raising system that will stay in place an do away with the two forward stay's. An make my own roller furling foe it.
