Back from Pamlico Sound
Okay, I actually got back from my sailing trip in October, but just tonight finished my blog detailing the trip. If you would like to read about it, you can find it here:

Thanks for all the kind comments, guys. I know prior to the trip I read everything I could find on the web about sailing Pamlico Sound and just couldn't get enough to satisfy me. I thought anything written about it, even as poorly as I write, might be helpful to someone contemplating a similar trip.
I got started on this by reading a guy's story about sailing from Ocracoke in a 14 foot sailboat, intending to sail around a little and then return to his truck and trailer. Unfortunately, his jib ripped, he couldn't go to weather, and ended up sailing all the way to the other side of the sound, at night, in big waves, sleeping on the boat, and getting eaten up by bugs and stinging mud. It's called "Crossing Pamlico Sound-The Hard Way", and I heartily recommend everyone read it. You can find it with a Google search.
EE, I did play "Ride, Captain, Ride"! After all, I DO have a six pack license!

Only a guy of my vintage could tie that song to your C22, huh ?? Even better can still play it on on the equally old guitar, albeit a tad slower than long ago.. !gregcrawford wrote:EE, I did play "Ride, Captain, Ride"! After all, I DO have a six pack license!
Looking forward to my first outings to the Mississippi Barrier Islands this spring !!
Thanks Greg! Really! Thanks!! Such a joy for a novice as myself to read a true story of a trip. I am SO looking forward to getting into adventures of my own, but I have to live vicariously through stories told by you and others. Thanks for taking the time and effort to document and share this with the rest of us. May not seem like a lot to the well-seasoned lot in the group, but I cannot think of the words to adiquately express how much I enjoyed sharing your trip with you on these pages!
Just "Thank-you!"

I did, Greg. Now I daydream too often about making my own small trips here in my Lake Michigan waters. Maybe a trip north, pulling in to various lakes for anchorage and spend the night before heading on or back home. Man, looking forward to that!!
