C20 vs O'Day222

Post by jbbkamp »

We sailed for our last time of the season today :( Great way to finish up the season with 15-18mph winds and a beautiful 74 degree day in Iowa...in October, not bad:) Enjoyed having a O'Day 222 follow behind us for about an hour or so. We neither gained nor lost ground and we had 4 adults and 7 kids aboard compared to 2 people on the 222. Though I love sailing the C20 I never figured it was too fast of a boat. Apparently good enough to stay ahead of the O'Day though. Just the little competitive part coming out in me!

I guess it's like they say about sports, "on any given day". Yesterday I caught and passed a 90's Hunter 30 and bested him for an hour. I have frequently encountered another, newer Hunter 30 and bested him on more than one occasion. I don't know if my Catalina 25 is a fast boat, I seem to get her going pretty well without any special effort on my part.

The important thing is being out there, doing something you enjoy

What a weekend! MSU beats Wisconsin in a dream victory on Saturday... plus great sailing on Sunday!

10-23 was last day of the season for the Lollipop too. A sunny but brisk 63 degree day w/ ~15 mph winds here in the mitten state. Sailed with the Creekfleet here at Stony Creek. No racing today, but since it's predominantly Bucs and other small daysailers, that's OK by me. Next years Creekfleet racing strategy will include wine & cheese unless a couple of O'Day 222's decide to join

I want a boat that drinks 6, eats 4, and sleeps 2.
