I saw this a while back too, Billy. Great article! It and some of the other articles I've read have "sold" me on using butyl tape for bedding hardware. Of course, I've overdrilled all my hardware holes and filled with thickened epoxy before redrilling. Should eliminate any water migration in the core if any gets past the tape.

It's thicker than what the guy calls for but it's nice. Gonna use it for all my hardware next spring after painting, but I have used it on a couple other projects--nice stuff.
Maybe what he has is better, I dunno, but I'm happy with what I have. And at 20 rolls for $60, affordable too.
Like I said, I don't know about different "types" of tape this guy claims to exist, but the stuff I got is very nice. Plyable, sticky and lots of it for a great price. I'm going to be reseating ports as well.
Anyways, food for thought.
