More hatch work.

From humble beginnings

To rework something you most first take it apart... it's putting it back together that's the pain.

Painted and reinstalled the AL. framing, starting to cut in with primer for future interior paint job.

Starting to look usable again.

Installing it back into the C26, glad my wife was out of town, I'm sure the neighbors got an ear full. Adjusting and readjusting new hinges and support arms to get it to function right at 90+ and the humidity kicking my %%&&. All I can say is I'm grateful this boat only has one bow hatch.

Thanks for all the (that-a-boys) but the hand rails were not my idea. 90% of all you have seen on my overhaul project is just me reworking what the P.O. back in the day has left me. Perhaps one day I'll see if I can dig deep enough to find out who it was

Wow what a difference!

Does anyone know if our hatches originally had some sort of gasket? I've been looking for something to keep bugs and the odd wave out.

First off after washing the hatch with ordinary everyday boat soap, I primed it with Rust-oleum white marine primer (wood and fiberglass above the waterline). The off white color I used was Rust-oleum topside Oyster white gloss. The gray also from Rust-oleum topside Battleship gray gloss. Not the top of the line paints, but seems to be working well for me to this point.

Fantastic job, can't wait until fall to do both of my hatches, and I'll probably go with the same paints as well.
