Deck mat

Post by Capt. Bondo »

Last Christmas my lovely wife gave me 50 feet of 1/4 rope. :?
Then informed me that she was going to make something special for the boat out of it :o
After some trial and error it was determined that she needed a larger rope to make her special boat project, so we picked up some 5/8" rope.
We now have a custom Bridge deck/step mat.

This is just cheap rope from Fleet Farm but it works great for this application, if you want to try making a mat like this we would suggest 7/16 or 1/2 size.

Looks good I have seen a video on how to do that I think it was on youtube I was looking for making fenders and a monkey fist for a throwing line. The only use for 1/4" line on my boat and no I did not make my fenders yet I found 4 floating unfortunately 1 black 1 white the big Taylor. I wish people would lose them in sets.

Now that is some kind of fancy rope work. My problem would be that I could not be able to use it as a floor mat. I'd have to hang it on a wall or something with a frame maybe.

Thanks
Alan

I love that kinda stuff....when I retire I may actually have a little time to try things like that.

My son in law is a Scoutmaster and he makes something similar...but his are three dimensional and kinda look like a macrame' neck scarf ring, only very large...you can wear them on your head like a crown.

Thanx for sharing.
