You know how we've talked about Bearing Buddies & thier inspection, transom straps and their importance, and on another thread I posted about how the bow eye was seperating and I took it apart and re-bedded it.... Well it all came apart today. I should have checked the bearings last week. One came apart, the wheel seperated from the trailer and (without transom straps) the force ripped the bow eye out sending my C-22 careening onto a major boulevard in our Denver suburb.
Fortunatly, it had snowed about 2' and the boat slid down the neighboring hill and onto the back of a flat bed car hauler. We were able to secure the towing strap from the hauler to the toe railing and got it to the lake for its maiden voyage. Unfortunately, the swing keel pin leak I thought was fixed didn't hold and water began to come in. Not wanting to wait until I finished the new wiring job, the bilge pump was not usable. She sank in 7' of water with the mast proudly sticking up at a 75 degree angle. Chatfield state park has decided to use it as an aid to navigation.
Oh, and you might want to check out the date this was posted.
OMG!
Too funny, Paul!!!
You had me all the way up to the aid to navigation. (Yeah, I even suspended belief long enough to read past the landing on the flatbed!) Man, I'm not usually this gullable, I need to hit the sack!
Thanks for the chuckle, tho my stomach is still reeling thinking the story could be true!

Well played sir!

Touche Paul,
I was expecting a posting along these lines from someone all day yesterday but you still had me till the sliding up onto the wrecker. Though I was still with you on the sliding down the neighborhood hill. Very funny! At the wrecker part my eye jumped right to the date stamp where I went from OMG to ah, he still got me.
Now you would have had me all the way except Captain Scott did this too us about 2 years ago. Though his story of sinking in the Snohomish river was longer and more detailed it was not nearly as entertaining as yours.
Well done, well done indeed.
Now all that said, thank goodness you and your boat are okay.
Thanks
Alan
