Nice looking boat. It does not seem to have any seat cushions other then the V-birth in the photos. I see it comes with a trailer but does it come with a motor. At $5000 I would expect it to be a very nice new motor.
I do hope he gets his price though. Then that would mean my boat is worth $5000 too with it's trailer and motor.
I was thinking my boat was worth say $2400, the trailer maybe $1000, and the motor maybe $600 for a grand total of $4000. Perhaps I was thinking too low a price.
Thanks
Alan

Hmmm, good question. Does anyone know how may Chrysler were made each year? I thought the sail numbers on a given model were numbered 1 right after another.
I know my boat was made in late 1976. Brian and I assumed. Okay I assumed his boat was made right after my boat was built.Brian's sail number is just a few numbers higher then my 1470 and as I recall his boat is a early 1977.
Thanks
Alan

Brian and I though our boats were made very close to each others in date based on the sail number. Mine was built in late 1976 and Brian's in early 1977 and only 3 sail numbers apart.
I kind of liked the idea of our boats having been at the factory at about the same time only built 3 boats apart. I had Idea's that my boat and his boat may have been on the factory floor at the same time with mine just getting done and his just getting started and the 1976 and 1977 year change happened between them.
So does anyone know how may of each model were made each year:?:
Is there a place to find such records?
Thanks
Alan

A Long time ago someone on this forum sent out a document/pdf that broke down this hull number.
Your hull number is CBC######M76G
Broken down it means this...
CBC / ###### / M76G
CBC = the Manufacturer = Chrysler
###### = Hull serial number
M76G = Date of manufacture = February 1976
Here's the Key so you read the date on each of your boats.
M = I have no idea, maybe M for month.
76 = the Year it was built
G = the Month of the Year it was built
August = A
September = B
October = C
November = D
December = E
January = F
February = G
March = H
April = I
May = J
June = K
July = L
Oh my goodness, I have not looked at my hull number since I bought the boat. I have hull number CBC#####M77L written in my book. The title to my boat says it is a 1976 Chrysler. According to the secret decoder ring I have just typed out above. My boat was built in 1977!!!
I am off to investigate the title and the Hull number to compare. I fear I have been falsely representing my Chrysler as being more vintage then it really is.
It's like having a DNA test and finding your kid is not your kid after all and it was switched out at the hospital before you brought it home. Now you still have to keep this swapped out kid because you love it and well you've raised it but it still gives you pause, where is my real kid and no you can't have the one I love and raised.
More on this story once I have some answers.
Thanks
Alan

From the next sailbag that was in the stack of sailbags to put on board the next boat off the line,
I'll try to find the article I'm referring to, thinking it was on Windward's site, but as I understood it there was no rhyme or reason or order to the sail numbering system..
I forget where/who but I've seen a 1980 C26 with a sail number lower than my 1979..

Found it on Avocet's site
http://users.accesscomm.ca/gbabish/sail.html
The sail number 738 does not correspond to the hull serial number. This boat came in with another in late 1979 and the other boat's sail number is only two digits off this one at 736. Chrysler apparently built between 1000 and 1100 C-26's over the 4 years they were in production. Some manufactures restarted the number count each year, whereas Chrysler did not. Rik Sneeuwjagt, the former web master of the Chrysler Sailing Association Web Site indicated that most of the documentation demonstrates that Chrysler did not follow a particular rhyme or reason for allocation of sail numbers . . . "we've found multiple boats having the same sail numbers, and most of the time the sail numbers do not correspond with the hull identification numbers posted on the transoms of the boats. One Chrysler factory worker who worked on manufacturing these boats in the 1970's indicated that Chrysler did not follow any one set of guidelines for establishing sail numbers."

I'm pretty sure some PHRF authorities will assign you a sail number so that they maintain unique numbers in their area of jurisdiction. Only a concern if you race and your authority does its own numbering.
