It's Boot, as in, "Das Boot". I'm sure you've heard of it... :)

Ah yes, you are correct. Das Boot, Oscar Winner for Best Foreign film back in the 1990's I think it was. One of my all time favorites right up there with Master and Commander and Horatio Hornblower the A&E series and the old 1950's Horatio Hornblower movie staring Gregory Peck. I managed to get a directors cut of Das Boot some years back. The beginning of the film is more clear to me in the directors cut then when I first saw it in the theater way back when.
