Skype anyone? Just curious . . . .

Post by CaptainScott »

A sailing buddy of mine has been all over me to get Skype up and working at home. I've been reluctant due to the quality of the calls. Well, last night we were feverishly sending emails back and forth when he yet again insisted I just install Skype. So , I did.

WOW! I'm inpressed! We chatted for a while for free! He is in Canada and I'm in Washington State. The call quality rivaled my home phone!

The software was free. The calls computer to computer are free. You do get a bit of a hard sell to give them money so you can call from your computer to a land line. I simply ignored all that. I gave up no credit card and no account info. Simply my name and email. I could have put a bogus email in but using an actual email folks can find you!

I do not work for, own stock in, or are in any way affiliated with Skype. I just like to share when I'm pleasantly surprised with the quality of something I get!

If any of you need or want to chat through Skype, look me up! It's free! LOL!

My Mom and nephew use it, he's stationed in Iran, but sounds like they do more of a live text/chat???

I'm not familiar with it at all...

My daughter came home from school for a bit a few weeks back and to my surprise started talking face to face, laptop to laptop with one of her friends. When I questioned her about it she gave me one of those looks. "This is Skype dad... what cave do you live in?" My first mate now tells me Skype is a most for our house to keep up with the children and friends. As soon as I get a computer/cam I'll be a Skyper too. 8)

Skype is good but check out the Google services for Google Talk, etc. They always seem to have the best. Also, TOKBOX is an online communication service. Jeff

Still waiting for the desk top to die so I can upgrade to a lap top. Have one at work and the kids both have one. You know how it is, dear ol dad is always last in line for the goodies.

Lol right now all we have on board is a phone that I have been using to post with since the note book died(problems with its OS) but as soon as I get some place to get a new laptop I will get skype and get rid of this very costly phone ...
