flooring

Post by hp18carr »

John

When you say cock pit flooring, is this the flooring inside or outside the cabin? The flooring inside the cabin can be almost anything. To my recollection at least on my 1980 c26 the cock pit flooring outside the cabin is just a non-skid surface, teak wood mesh sounds like a PO mod. A photo would be great to give us a perspective.

I can not speak for the C26 specifically but . . . . .
All the teak floors I've seen are simply very tight fits.
You may have to wait for it to dry completely and on a lesser humid day to get it to come up.

I have a similar setup on Destiny. I can not move the flooring for a day or two after getting it wet. It has to be perfectly dry to get it out.

Just a thought!
Scott

PS: After re-reading . . . I assumed the wood mesh was in the cockpit not the cabin sole! :)

Hey John the teak mesh cockpit flooring is an option for the C-26 not something that came on my 77, but if the teak gives you to much problem you can send it to me and I'll take care of it for you.

On a side note my E-32 has it also, it seems like a nice bonus when sailing barefoot. Im doing the outside teak on it now and have almost gone thru a qt can of teak oil and still havent got to the cock pit floor or locker trim/handles.

before and after pictures would be great.

John

Like your teak wood floor cover for the cockpit, finding something like that on today's market translates into high dollar. I feel you missed spoke calling it a toy shop... it more like a small aircraft hanger.

lol, sailboats are just the late life nicotine patch for my real addition you see. I've been recovering from the real one since many years ago in my youth, and when I relapsed at 50 the redhead pointed out she could flap her arms and swim if needed, but not flap her arms and fly if need be. 8)

Thus EE exists, along with the others.

Moved my post to the sole repair thread. Don't know that you need to put her in the water, just a good bet to check the keel trunk before, or when, you go to the work of replacing the sole.
