How about a north central get together.

I'm in, if possible.
A fall rally may be cool, changing leaves, less boat traffic, possible open slips in marinas.
I'll check some things out and let you know what I find.

Hey sounds great, I believe the word mentioned for this late last year was "flotilla", right?
My boat is (I think) about ready to be put in the water. I've just finished redoing all the interior wiring and LED lighting and also installed all new wood in the cabin. Tiller is getting varnished right now and almost done. The last two very important items I have to do are a total overhaul of the trailer and fixing the OEM motor - if it can be fixed. If not I'll have to find another.
Where the get together is, I'm more than happy to defer to those more experienced forum members (I've only sailed on Lake Calhoun at this point). When, later summer to fall timeframe would probably work for me - let us know the place and date and I'll definitely try to be there.
Regards, Bryan

Depending on time and place, we might be able to make it.

So it looks like the fall would work out the best for most.
The St. Croix river would be nice in the fall, I have never sailed there so I'll let Capt. Bondo tell us about the river.
Rainy Lake is always nice for sailing, very little boat traffic in the fall and lots of open campsites if people want to stay. Cook on shore and sleep on the boat. Sail in the US and Canada, no passports are necessary. May be a little far north for some.
Mille Lacs lake. What can I say, its a huge bowl of water and usually always some wind. Not much for scenic sights.
Apostle Islands. Would be great but I would suggest against this one in the fall. Could get a little to rough for the swing keel 22's.
Any other places people were thinking?

I'll try to make it where ever it is. Rainy Lake would be a blast, but for me it would be a 7+hr tow up there. I think the Apostles are hands down the best cruising grounds around here. But the fall can bring some big waters up there, it might be better suited for a summer gathering of 2011. So, I guess my vote would be for St. Croix or Pepin, but open to other suggestions.

Since your leaning towards the St. Croix between Stillwater and Hudson (my home sailing ground), I'll throw out some dates.
-Sept 18-(this coming weekend ) This event is right next door to the Beach House Marina where Happy Place is kept. http://www.bayportcommunityactionleague.com/map
-Sept 19- Talk Like A Pirate Day.
-Sept 25/26-I'm open, Sunday works best
-Oct 2/3 is Applefest in BayField WI, (annual trip for me for more years than I can remember, use a boat that is up there)
-Oct 10, 16, 24, 31 are all dates that work for me,
After that we could be running into the "Gales of November"
Realising that it's getting late to plan anything big yet this fall, a quick get to gather may be a start for next year (even if it's on dry land).
I'm thinking our Chrysler Day sailers would like something a little earler

It looks like Oct. 16th will work for me. I haven't had the 22 out this year. (It actually hasn't been in the water since 2008 ) But my wife and I have been working our tails off the last few weeks to get it seaworthy again. If all goes well we will be sailing Pepin this Friday through Sunday. We plan on dropping the hook someplace on Friday night and motoring down river to the Wabasha Marina for Saturday night. Will anyone be on Pepin this weekend?

OK then, three makes a party
Saturday, October 16th, 2010
The Chrysler Sailors North Central Fall Flotilla.
On the Lower St Criox River
For boats with auxiliary power I'll check with the marina in Bayport if they will give us any break on launch fees.
Day sailors (wo/auxiliary power) may be best launched at the Ferry Landing in North Hudson, due to easy access to open water and no fee.
Drop me a PM if you plan on coming and want more information, or have ideas of things to do.
After all I'm just winging this

Beach House marina does have a nice ramp, and I'm checking into other ramp just north of there.
Here are some charts;
http://www2.mvr.usace.army.mil/NIC2/Doc ... -18-26.pdf
http://www2.mvr.usace.army.mil/NIC2/Doc ... -11-18.pdf
FYI, Index for Mississippi from St. Anthony Falls to St. Louis;
http://www2.mvr.usace.army.mil/NIC2/mrc ... fm?index=1
Ferry landing is a sand beach and works fine for small boats and 4wd, but a C22 would get stuck
Due to flooding most ramps will be closed this weekend (Oct 2-3).
We did get out last Sunday for a nice afternoon motor (no-wind) the trees are starting to change, hope we still have color on the 16th.

I'm hoping to launch about noon from the Beach House in Bayport.
How about we meet up just south Hiline point (mile 21) on chart.

Hope you can make it, should be a good day.

It looks like I'm not going to make it. I have some time free tomorrow, but not enough to pull off the 4hr round trip drive and have any time left on the water.
Let's be sure to start planning next year's rally soon! I don't want to miss it.
Have a nice sail tomorrow!

We'll The Chrysler Sailors North Central Fall Flotilla did not have the turn out that we were hoping for, but it did go off without a snag, which is easy with only one boat
It was a very nice day for sailing, wind WNW at 10-15, with clear sky.

Next year my trailer will be much more road worthy, so I'll ready to check out some new cruising grounds.
I'm thinking we should plan a weekend during the summer?
Would be cool to have a campground next to a marina type of layout for the daysailors...
Lets get the ideas going on a new string

I've seen your boat there, just south of the 94 bridge.
Was wondering of the owner was on this forum.
That extra window had me wondering if it was a C22 or a C26 from a distance
