C-22 Main Entry Doors

Post by Paul the Denverite »

Sailbob and others who have made the door type entry for your boats. Do you have them swing in or out? My first thought was to swing out but then they are into the cockpit every time they are opened.

Also, Do you use any self-closing devices so they don't just swing with the roll of the boat? I suppose a body could latch them each time.

Finally - I really enjoyed the posting of the Chicago Sail Only event. Noticed the deck hatch/skylights were supported by shock pistons similar to the back hatch of a minivan. That looked like a neat idea to me.

"CRYSTA's" doors swing out no problems with clearance and while I have a hook type latch to help keep them closed they usual stay closed on their own from friction - I built them that way - My doors also have the removable hinges lift them out of the frame and I have both or a single door out.
