You are about where I am with the '75 I just bought. I pulled the dumpster over next to the boat and unloaded it of all its contents including every last piece of running rigging. Granted, mine had been sunk partially, so most of it needed to go anyways. I keep looking at it in the backyard and thin...

Re: Congrats. Me Too

I got mine in the water for the first time also on Sunday, I had the other problem, of two much wind, any one know how far over you can heal a C22 before it becomes a problem. I scared my young chew a bit, and had to turn into the wind to stop her from going to far over, (I thing we had water up to...

GOOD CATCH! Much better to see that much rust and corrosion while sitting on the trailer, than in the water after the keel fell and damaged the pin and brackets. Could have been ugly. Plain steel should not have been used in that application. When you get the cable, make sure to use wire that is des...

There are two black plastic brackets mounted inside the upper lip of the cockpit, is that where the mast support is supposed to go? My outboard is a 5hp two stoke, weighs about 65 pounds, since I'm already too light on the tongue weight I figured I'd haul it in the back of the rover. The mast suppo...

No problem. Look in my Flickr page, there are more pics of it. One thing I didn't take a picture of is the cross mount I added after I fitted it. Basically the same thing as your original tiller head has. I drilled it out on both plates and put a tube between the two sides with a bolt through it. I ...

Replacement tiller heads are available. check http://www.rigrite.com/Hardware/Rudder_Hardware/Rudder&Tiller_Heads.html although I hear they are a little hard to get parts from. I made my own rudder head and tiller straps out of stainless stock. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6010/6002088660_ee30...

There is no extra bracing in the transom, but the glass layup is heavy on a C-22 and as far as I can tell, no coring. I have a 9.9 Yamaha hanging way off the transom and has been there for years according to the previous owner. I have stood on the engine bracket as well and I'm a big boy!

I haven't had a ton of experience with all the different brands of 4 strokers. My father has had 2 Honda 10hp engines and the current one is an 8 hp. He replaces them instead of doing repairs. The center section on both the 10hp's corroded badly due to the mounting system on his boat, a Hobie 33. Th...

If you have clearance for a 225/75/15, looks like they are available with a 2050lb rating. The higher the rating the better. Stock weight of boat and trailer is close to the 1820lb rating of the other tires. Add all the gear, engine and cooler and you easily can exceed it. Launching the boat with ta...

Welcome to the board, I'm only a few months in to the Chrysler sailboat scene and have gotten tons of good info on this website. It's been a while since I worked in the tire industry, but from what I remember, the biggest difference is sidewall stiffness. I just bought another C-22 the other day for...

Assuming you purchased the boat here in Fl. and haven't titled it yet, the engine is tax exempt... As an example, if you paid $2000 for the rig, with an engine worth $800, then the tax should be assessed at the boats worth of $1200. Providing you have a bill of sale for the purchase, or can get one....

We might fix this one up and sail our original one while we do and then swap them at the dock. Then repeat the procedure for the original one, paint decks and hull, refresh and rebed all the hardware, etc. Our marina and ramp is 2.5 miles from the house, meaning a single axle trailer without brakes ...

After all the planning to build a trailer, I ended up buying another Chrysler... with trailer this time! Saw it in the Orlando Craigslist listings. It came with a Honda 7.5 hp and 4 sails. Paid for it tonight and am going back over with the Bronco this week to haul it home. That's the good part. App...

Personally, I would stay with the 6 gallon. I'm not sure the 20 gal will fit in the area for the tank and putting another 100lbs right at the stern will throw off your weight balance and make forward visibility (especially with the keel up) more difficult. Unless you are running at full throttle ALL...

Well, after all that planning and almost ordering some parts, we found another Chrysler 22 on Craigslist. Heading out to look at / buy it now. Price is great and has a tandem trailer and engine. Needs keel brackets due to a leak but that doesn't scare me at all. I'll post pics later tonight.

Seconded! Lexan is nearly unbreakable but is as soft as a grape, scratches if you look at it wrong. Plexi is very durable but much harder and doesn't get scratched nearly as quick.

I made the rudder head and tiller mounting for our boat out of stainless. If there is a metal supply warehouse nearby, you could have the 3 plates cut to length, drill the holes and have a welding shop join it together. Doesn't look like a season killer to me! http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6129/600...
