how hard is it to step the mast on a c26 ?

has anyone tried a winch or something, i think this is going to be a real pain.

i was out motoring in lake washington, no sail yet, i still have to mount the mast and finish the rigging.

but i had a good time for a couple days motoring around and working on my tan while drinking beers lol

this is a dumb question but i havent used the toilet on the boat because i dont know how to pump it out or what to do once its full. how do you guys handle the waist once its full ?

Hi EE, i had my keel most of the way up when i was in the water because i was just motoring around and wasnt sailing. could it be that the banging is because the keel was up ? i thought about lowering it but wasnt sure if that would help. its the second time ive taken the boat out so im new to using...

just noticed there is a banging noise when the boat rocks side to side and the noise is from the keel.

is this normal or does anyone have comments on this ?

there are no cracks and no leaks on the keel trunk, just an occasional bang when the boat rocks.

Hi All, i noticed a crack about 3" long on the metal plate that the rudder is sandwiched between. i believe this was the original rudder plate and i am wondering if this crack will propigate fast or if i might be able to motor around for a few weekends before i need to fix it. i think the rudde...

thanks guys, it looks like the propane buddy has its own safety feature for low oxygen ...does this mean it would be safe in the boat cabin ?

i know there is supposed to be a low oxygen sensor on the boat, plus the propane could be a fire hazard since it goes in the bilge right ???

thanks guys that will give me an idea so i can check into this, at least i wont need a heater for a few months but i should plan on making room for one once summer is over

does anybody have comments on what kind of heater to use in a c26 ?

or have you installed one that works good. im thinking either propane, diesel or possibly electric but seems like electric will kill the battery fast.

its for the NW area. something compact would be nice

i found this very frustrating. the rudder on my c26 floats so when i pull the chord it refuses to go down. i had to push the rudder down with a long pvc pipe then tie a knot on the tiller rope to hold it. any thoughts on why i cant pull the rope to force the rudder down, it feels like there is not e...

good info thanks guys, but why make the rudder rotate if you have to have it down all the time ?

Hi guys i am thinking of triming about 5" off the rudder so it doesnt hit the prop when i raise it in shallow water. has anyone done this or have any comments ? i am concerned i would loose too much steerage...but then again the rudder is about 3 ft long so 5" may not be too bad. i am usin...

Hi Guys, thanks for the welcome...i am finishing up on a restoration of a c26 right now


i am indeed in the puget sound area lol. i am planing on heading south sometime not too far away. for now ill be in the nw area.

title says it all just wondering i i have to stay in the bay ALL the time or can i sail along the coast from san diego into mexico
