Re: 1976 C22 Restore Beginning

The first thing I would try to do is find out how water got into the foam. On my 22, it was in a slip and I put in a bilge pump just in case something bad happened, never did thank god. I ran the tubing through that area and took out some of the foam. I don't know what purpose it served and how ...

C26 hull question and refinish

I am working on a C26 hull, it has many layers of bottom paint on it, some of the early coats are chipping of and looks bad with the red showing througgh the blue. not that bottom paint ever looks pretty. I have spent some time trying to find the best way to strip the bottom paint. First I pressure ...

CDI furler for c-26

Hello All,
I am looking at a used CDI furler here locally, model 4/6. Does anyone use one of these on their boat? Any recommendations for a furler? Not as steady on my feet as I used to be and would like to get out of hanking the jib.

sail reconditioning

I was wondering if anyone has ever had their sails reconditioned? I got the impression they are cleaned and a coating put on them. I don't know how effective or expensive it would be.

I sail my 22 in inland lakes in Ohio. Not much natural chop, but a lot of unlimited horsepower boats running on a reservoir can get choppy. Mine has a swing keel. The only thing that I notice is that the keel thumps a lot, but she sails flat through chop. I have read on this forum in the past about ...

That is pretty. Did you spray or brush it? I am looking down that rabbit hole myself on the C-22, I may want to get all the patches the same color. I lost out on a slip this year, so I have been using sail time to build and repair things while they are stuck on the hard. I have been refinishing the ...

I am not sure if they do or not. I would not surprise me if they are the same. It would make manufacturing more efficient to use the same stock. I see you are in Columbus, I have my C-26 in storage at Hollenbeck with the mast down if you want to look at the end of it. Now that I think of it, I ...

Thanks for your input everyone. I put Sikkens natural teak cetol on the gangway planks. The one of the sets I stained and it actually came out with a nice gloss, the others were sanded down to natural color and does not have near the sheen to it, but I only applied one coat yesterday to them. The ...

My bucket didn't have that bimini cover option, my C-20 is a plain Jane white with a gold stripe. no port lights, no lifeline. just a pulpit on the bow and that little aluminum rail on the stern to hold the mast. I would like to try my hand at making a bimini, but it is a challenge to make something ...

C-20 or C-22 bimini

I was looking at the brochures and I saw an option for a C-20 bimini cover that was offered by Chrysler. Does anyone know of any pictures of how a bimini would fit a C-20 or a C-22. I would like to have one to have a little shade but when I get to the problem of the location and movement of the ...

Wood finishes

I am working on my gangway planks, tiller, and the channels on the sliding hatch on a C-20 and a C-22, I have used teak oil in the past, which seems to fade quickly, and Helmsman Spar urethane which blisters and gets cloudy after 1 season. I think I will try Cabot's spar varnish this time. Our boats ...

If I can picture it right, the structure below the gangway supports the mast and maybe the winch that lowers the keel. Any rotten wood on a boat should be on the short list to be fixed, or the problem will just get worse and harder to fix. It is probably a compression force on it winch makes it ...

The keel weight is about right. The 20 has a stub keel on it also which the 22 does not have. I think the stub keel lets you go with a lighter drop keel. The 20 also has different handling characteristics than the 22. The 22 will tack faster. I sail them both on an inland reservoir, and I have found ...

Cabin roof growth

I have had my 1975 c-22 for five years. I keep getting these tan, chrystal mounds inside the cabin. They look like a bug nest, but i can find no evidence of bugs when I clean them. length of mast

I just measured my C-22 mast to try to fit a cover to it and the boat. It measured exactly 27 feet 0 inces from the shoe at the bottom of the mast to the top of my anchor light. I think 26' 6" would be accurate without the light.
