C26 hull question and refinish
C26 hull question and refinish
I am working on a C26 hull, it has many layers of bottom paint on it, some of the early coats are chipping of and looks bad with the red showing througgh the blue. not that bottom paint ever looks pretty. I have spent some time trying to find the best way to strip the bottom paint. First I pressure wash it, a lot came off with the chipping. I then tried sanding with sanders, quite miserable, messy and inconsistant with some areas cutting to deep. II then swithched to wet sanding which is working quite well, smooth, no dust and more cofortable in the heat. I found 80 and 120 grit wet paper on Amazon which works nicely. I use 3 rubber sanding blocks, working on small sections, 80 followed by 120, followed by 220. This boat hull has a brass plate on the port side and a type of nylon plug, on the stern there is an inplleler that spinds like a thru hull speed sensor. they look factory. Is the brass plate part of the toilet tank? The plug and Impeller? A labor of love on this project.
