trailering the C26

My trailer is set up with the full weight of the boat (C26 swing) resting on the keel by way of a 6' long plank on the trailer. More specifically the swing keel as it hangs down below the fixed portion about 2". There are four pads also, keeping the boat steady. Is this set-up o.k.? Or should the fixed part of the keel be carrying the weight? Should the pads be adjusted to carry some load also? Some trailers have bunks instead of pads, is this a better set-up?

I have EE's trailer set up with 2 planks. Leaves a gap between them wide enough for the swing keel and the weight is on the fixed portion of the shoal keel.

That keeps the weight off the swing keel, as well as the pin.

My bunks are set to carry very little weight, just used to keep the boat upright and centered.

Sounds like the way to go. Once I get the boat off I'll be addressing that as well as moving the axles aft to get some tongue weight as well.
Probably a good thing the ice doesn't go out until May around here - I've got lots to do before then!
