Main sail

Post by lecker68 »

My main had a terrible shape and the boat sat for 7 years what U found was sails sitting cabin for 7 years in the northeast where temp went from highs in high 90's and lows below zero.
Luff rope in the main had shrank almost 9" from spec. and after the snow is gone I am going to stretch between 2 trees to try to get luff back to proper length. :(

Wetting it will probably help it stretch, what is the possibility of suspending the mast from the same trees ,running the sail up the mast (horizontally of course) and using the halyard to put the stretch cabosh on it?

Thank you banshi. I was thinking without mast I could wet it stretch it and let gravity help and wet it again repeating as needed. I have done this one other time on my Newport Holiday which had a boltrope on the luff and foot. Also I see you have your boat on each post how do I do that?
