Dry fiberglass on topside

Been doing a lot of fixing on my C22. Replacing the wood under stachanion bases cracks and such. Keep running into voids and really dry fiberglass. Areas looks like a core issue start grinding in on spots and there's just dry voids. Any one ever run into this by chance. Chrysler must of gotten a smoking deal on gel coat instead of resin. So thick in places.

Hope i can at least get it out of the shop this year back on the trailer. Guess we will see after couple more gallon of resin and few yards of chop strand

You would be better off to just eliminate the stanchions. There is not enough room to get by them and they are too short to be of any use. I took them off my 26 and they were the taller ones. It is much easier to get around. Rather than replace the wood just use a vinyl or polyester resin fill using micro balloons. Drill a 1 1/2" hole using a hole saw and just fill it up. Then fiberglass over the repair with two layers of fiberglass blending back.

All ready have port side done . So I'll just keep redoing them on the cabin top and couple other areas running into the dry glass too. Glassing the hull to deck joint closed too so I'm already there . They didn't do a very good job on about half the wood I've dug out missed it or hit half of it .
