Securing turnbuckles (Bottle Screws) from turning, what is the best way?

Hi all, I currently us a twisted piece of wire through the ends of the screws on the turnbuckles and tape this round with electrical insulation tape to prevent it snagging on the sail. I have two questions:
1. How do other members stop the turnbuckles from gradually unscewing?
2. Is there a better material than electrical insulation tape for protecting the sails?
Our boat is a C22
