Keel cable on Chrysler 22

Does anybody have any experience inspecting and or replacing the Keel cable on a Chrysler 22.? I know some of them have a cable. Mine has a rope at least the part that I can see up in the boat. I have not use the boat yet I do purchase of recently. I'm just want to know if there is a way I can inspect it at least the lower end that I can't see. any thoughts?
