Hopefully I'll have time to keep this section of my Website up to date as the work progresses. I am an amateur web authur at best so pardon the lack of finish to the site as I continually work out the bugs and appearance. I am working out of town so I'll take pictures of work done at home on the every other weekend I'm home and then spend the boring weekday evenings to update the site.

Welcome Banshi!
I had planned on showing the progress of my boat until my PC crashed and I lost most my picts. Hope you have better luck and back it all up better than I did.
I meant to redo my keel brackets, but biffed marking the hole pattern and ended up putting the old ones back in for now. It's a finicky process with little clearance for errors. Hopefully others with more success will help advise ya!
When I have more time I'll post what I did to my keel, it was badly rusted, pitted and flaking. Now it's all pretty, and doesn't make any banging noise at all.
Just wanted to welcome ya aboard and look forward to seeing your site develop!
Good Luck,
Billy

My keel is in the same condition as your sounds like it was. Thank goodness I decided to go ahead and get refurbishing it out of the way because as I removed the keel the bottom of the port side keel bracket fell out, it was nothing but rust. I bought some replacements from Trey who posts on this board and after I refurbish the keel I'll be finishing the job by replacing the old brackets. Getting those brackets back in should be right up my ally, I've been building RC airplanes since I was a kid and I am a carpenter by trade so lining things up and getting them in the right place is second nature for me (I'll mess it up for sure now)
As far as the keel goes, I plan on removing all the rust I can with wire brushes and a grinder, then I'll use the Por15 kit to clean, neutralize and seal it up. I will then use their bondo type filler to fill in and smooth out the keel and their primer to prepare it for a topcoat of paint probably something by Interlux.
My biggest decsiion will come when I finally have to decide on what to paint the bottom with. Because it will not be kept in the water I may forgo any anti-fouling paint, however the other side is what would it hurt? I've got a few months before I have to break down and decide.

I felt the force move. Did somebody say "RC" -
Looking at an old Hangar 9 Cub with clipped wings as I type, plus a little Ace All Star bipe, and a Top Flite Corsair fuse (don't ask about the wings please, thank you). And an unfinished FA-18 Hornet (the old Direct Connection kit) that replaced one I scattered all over about an acre one day.
Keep us up on your keel work !

I've got a Great Planes Super Skybolt, SIG Kadet Senior (with Flaps and Alerons) a glider and an Unfinished F4U Corsair (wings and fuselage nearly complete) sitting in my shop.............I NEED MORE TIME AND MONEY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Working out of town does not help either! It's amazing how far radios have come since I did any consistent flying, I only occasionally get out and fly my glider.
