Deck Core
Deck Core
Made some cutouts in the deck for my new Lewmar Portlights and wanted to share this for anyone interested in the deck construction Chrysler used on the C22s. Mine is a 1980 model, and I don't know if all model years were like this, but hopefully someone else can comment. Looks like corrugated cardboard sandwiched between fiberglass skins. If so, I'm guessing there had to be some method for infusing with resin first.

Bob, on a C26, the vertical area in front of the forward hatch where the cabin drops at the foredeck, it was small honeycomb like filler up there as well.
EE has delamination around portlights (between inner and outer skin) and it seems the same filler was in there, but has withered away from leaks.
I really don't think they had any plans for these boats to last this long given that they were mass produced and priced at an entry level !
