I'm looking at replacing the halyards on my C22. They are the original wire with rope. Can I just use all rope?

Thanks.

I know owners who have done just that, but before I did so I'd have a look at the sheaves to be sure the are not nicked up from the wire and in a state that would fray the line you replace with. And of course to be sure they will handle the size line you need.

Maybe someone with personal experience will chime in on the sheave size..

just curious about why you'd want to do that?

I don't necessarily want to but the jib halyard keeps on geting jammed where the wire meets the rope at the top of the mast. I have to take the mast down to do other stuff it could just be one of the sheves.

Take a good look at why it is jamming while you have the mast down.
Could be something has come loose up there. I had a boat do that a lot and all I had to do was tighten up the pin that held the sheave in place. Basically the top was opened up a tad bit and just needed to be tightened back down!
