Weak transom on 1979 C 26

Post by Josef shaw »

I purchased a 79 c26 and it seems the previous owner reinforced the transom with metal brackets, after sailing a few times it looks like I need to add more or just re do it all. Any suggestions?

Weak Transom

Hi Josef,
Any pictures to show what you're talking about? Why do you think the transom is weak?

I would love to see pictures. I suppose anything is possible, but I can't imagine a 26 with a weak transom. One of the things I love about my 26 is that it is built like a tank. I seem to remember someone saying they lifted the boats at the factory by the two eyes on the transom.

Welcome Aboard Josef - If you mean the part of the transom where the motor mounts, that is a problem area on the C26's, cracking in the corners..I removed EE's, and glassed the hole in so I could add a Garelick type mount.

We are weekending in Long Beach a lot, so catch up with me via PM here on the board if I can help in any way.
