Does anyone use a shackle when attaching the mainsail tack to the boom
? It seems like the attachment point on the boom is too low on mine and creates a wrinkle along the foot of the mainsail.

I use a pin on the tack for the main sail. Surprised though that you think yours is too low as I have the boom below the mast gate and a rope to pull down the boom some more after I raise the main. When I reef the main I have to raise the boom above the mast gate or the main just is ugly!
