C26 Toerail / Softspot Question

Post by ronc98 »

I picked up a 1977 C26 last winter and I have found some soft spots on the starboard side close to the toerail. I did not remove the toerail however I did reseal it. My question is since it is so close to the toerail would the normal fix of drilling a bunch of small holes and injecting Epoxy still work.

I am looking for anyone that might have a close up picture of the hull under the toerail. just so I can see what I am getting into before I attempt to remove the toerail.

Thanks

Ron: I don't know if the deck of the 26 is the same as the 22. There's a diagram in here www.flickr.com/photos/gus_chrysler22/

Part of my deck is honeycomb mixed with epoxy, some parts I have plywood. Where the deck meets the hull, there's just plain deck, about 1/8 of an inch thick.

Thanks Gus that helps. I might have to do something similar to what you did.
