Well, it's been a long time since I bought this boat. 13years ago I bought this boat and I've never sailed it until today. It has been an off and on restoration project. I kind of forgot about it and left it in storage for the past 6 years. I got excited about it a few months ago and really started working hard on it. I've dumped way too much money into it but I think it has turned out pretty well. It was a fun day sailing in San Pedro California

Looks great. Do you have any photos of the inside? I was always wondering what Chrysler did with the fixed keel 22's interior. it would sure be nice not to have that pesky keel trunk in the middle of everything.

Here are a few more pics and a video of the crane in action

The companionway boards are actually redwood. I know it's not ideal but it had a piece of plywood in there when I bought it and I didn't want to make a mistake on something expensive like teak.

The inside is the same as the swing keel boats except for the winch. It uses the same hull liner. The fixed keel bolts in to the area you guys know as keel trunk.

My brother is going to sail it out to Catalina Island next weekend and I am planning to go the following weekend. It's a 23 mile reach...I'm hoping to make it in less that 4 hrs.

Between the carbon fiber foil and differential pinion, I thought you would have had an Indy car in another image....

Very cool. How did you determine the foil shapes, center of the keel and what did you do for ballast?

B

OK, tried from home, works on my home PC,
great shots!

I'd love to sail a fixed keel C22 just for giggles to see how it is!
I bet she beats to win very nicely compared to the swing keel!

Great shots!

I didn't create the keel. It is original and the ballast is cast iron. I did make the rudder though. I copied a profile from an image of a racing rudder I found online. I'm an engineer so I have access to Solidworks. I modeled it on the computer in 3d and then made it.....it was a ton of work. I got quoted $720 to have one made and I spent close to that making it. The rudder is a foam core and mostly fiberglass layup, only the final layer is carbon fiber but it looks cool right???
