Fuel locker opening

Post by choyado »

Does anyone know the dimensions of the fuel locker opening on a C-22? I am thinking of converting my outboard to propane and was wondering if a standard propane tank would fit. I would measure mine but it's two states away right now.

If referring to the center aft compartment behind rudder shaft - NO. Mine is handy and I had an empty 20# (BBQ size) tank. Tried it. No go. Opening is about 1/2-3/4" to narrow and compartment isn't deep enough to be upright. I don't think those tanks work laid on side. With some medium modification the opening could be made wide enough and the compartment lid raised to "maybe fit". Summary: opening too small and compartment not deep enough.

Okay, thanks. I know the forklift style tanks are meant to run in a horizontal position. I looked one up, a 33lb tank is 12.5 in in diameter and 26" long.

Not nearby now but I think 26 is too big. I'll check tomorrow.
