While repairing the port lazarette hatch (hinges froze and broke out) I found this number under the hatch..hmmm, everything else is worn out on the boat, but this is still there,

THat there is funny! Very cool find!

Any idea at all what it might mean?

Might have to go back and check the records, but I'll wager and say it was some employees prediction of the cross-state rivalry of that years' Aggies-n-'Horns game.

My summation makes perfect sense: The boats were built in Texas, and, as my neighbor from Tennessee informed me long ago, "the only thing that blows harder than the wind down there is the people", who will inscribe their Texas Pride on anything.

End of mystery.

Iron Mike, no idea, thought maybe a part number to tell them apart from the C22 lararette cover, but probably not. No markings on my fuel locker hatch.

That neighbor from Tennessee knew what he was talking about. He said he only went to Texas once - to get his wife. Buford (yes, that was his real name) said his life was never the same.

He was a tired man... but good grief was he funny.

I used to go over there and clean his lab kennels because he was too fat to do it anymore. His prized breeder was named Duke, and was the only dog allowed to bite him in the ass if he was too frequent with the shock trainer. And bite him he would, too - right in the butt cheek, just under the wallet pocket. Buford said he carried permenant bruising at the site, but I never cared to check. I secretly rooted for the dog. He sure raised some quality labs.
