Hi everyone, I have what I suspect to be the original Johnson 9.9 sail master outboard. I find that the throttle will not engage in the vertical position and is unable to be put in the horizont position because the mount is to close to the boat. Does anyone have this problem? How do you adjust throttle?

I have converted my tohatsu to remote throttle and remote gear.
I did not have the issue you describe with throttle not working but I bet if you do the conversion it will fix your issue!

A word of caution though. Several folks here have removed remote controls because they take up valuable cockpit space!
