.... and wish all my CS buds a great Labor Day weekend! No, I haven't found my dream boat yet and am still working w boats that are a good fit logistically and financially (...and maritally). Just got rid of the O'Day DS2. Nice boat, but a bit tender for my tastes. I'm admittedly spoiled after owning a C-20.

Newest find was a giveaway '69 Newport Holiday 20. I can't sit down (Indian style just isn't my thing anymore) and read a paper in her or have breakfast, but I can at least get my fat dupa through the cuddy door without greasin' it first and even lie down if I wish.

(if you're curious:)

The first thing I do is get on the web and find the most active discussion board I can about this boat to get the goods on 'er (There were under 200 H20's made, so the knowledge base is kinda thin and quiet, but I'm trying to change that). Anyway, who do I see as a Newp Holiday20 P.O. but Mr. lecker68! (Lyle, if you're still out there, and you read this, I may want to pick your brain at some point  ) The H20 is a very nice little boat in my estimation. Easy 'n stable (but I'm still biding my time for my next Chrysler Cruiser)....speaking of....

...., Right after I pick up the H20, I saw Mr. Saurliegh's C26 available here! My eyes bugged out and my heart started pounding when I first saw his post! Tested the waters as far as how much the wif would take, but a 17, a 20 and a 26 footer in the driveway would have definitely sent her over the edge, LOL and darn, darn, darn! So here I am today, happy... and still hunting for my dream boat!

Again, have a great LD CS guys and gals,

My first boat before I bought my C22 was a Newport 16...sweet little boat with a roomier cabin than the 20 you have Bruce...it was a nice inland lake daysail boat...enjoy it. The only reason I don't have mine anymore is the wife "forced" me to get a bigger boat to sail on Lake Michigan...LOL

You poor guy Bill! LOL! Wifey made you buy a bigger boat. That's a hoot. I must rely on strategy and timing. My Newport was purchased directly after my dearest went to a Thirty-One home party. Designer bags.... BAGS!!! She came home with custom DESIGNER bags for lunch, shopping, Christmas gifts... and even the DOG!! Her bags cost more than my boat! By George, the poor woman didn't have a leg to stand on! If Longaberger baskets make a come back around here, I'll be perusing the EBAY 20-27 category like it was a law book!

BTW, Cap'n Scott, I finally got around to an 'underway' vid of the new ragboat.

Believe it or not , the sailling feel is much more like my 'ol C20 than the Daysailer. 15 mph gusts yesterday and she just slowly leaned and shot! She's not much on looks and leaks a tiny bit from the bottom somewhere (just like me, LOL, gotta look into that for both of us) but I love her
