Hey all!
Yet another great Chrysler forum story!

I had to get Lady Jo ready for sailing with a customer which basically includes cleaning up the topsides. I was contacted by John, OutnBacker , and said hey! Meet me at Lady Jo, Check her out!

So Monday after work my wife and I wnet up to Lady Jo, pulled her out for cleaning and John showed up! Unfortunately I broke my tongue jack and had to walk over to the hardware store for a new pin. When I got back, there was John scrubbing the deck of Lady Jo! WOW! After several requests to take over, he just kept on cleaning! So I replaced the pin on the jack and promptly broke the new one. Guess the jack rusted up since the last launch last month! Dang. My wife seeing that we were chatting and recognizing it won't end soon, decided to head home.

John and I finished up the cleaning, parked Lady Jo in her storage spot, went to the marine store for a new jack, and headed to Johns house. I immediately recognized his boat as one I had been eyeballing. Very clean and very nice looking boat. It seems there are NO leaks, and she is very pretty inside. After a good once over, John gathered a bunch of tools and we headed back to Lady Jo where he very kindly used a torch to heat up the bolts and remove the old jack while I assembled the new one. Shortly after the new jack was installed and we headed off in our own directions.

It was great meeting you John and I thank you again for all the help you gave me cleaning up Lady Jo and replacing the jack!

It sounds like John has the Chrysler spirit...Hip Hip Hooray!!!! Welcome aboard John and speaking of alanhod...where is he??? I know...probably busy...I understand busy and I am retired.

Folks, it wasn't that dirty, and Capt. Scott was busy with a time line and a rusty jack that was older than the hills. I was glad to help and my place is alot closer (right around the bay) than the Capt's for tools, which I have in abundance.

For those who don't live in the Puget Sound region, and haven't met Capt. Scott, he's a heck of a guy. Knows his stuff, and is willing to share. But, you have to keep your wits, or he'll attempt to snooker you with comments like: "you sure you know where that wrench is?" while you're standing on it, or something similar.

You'll see me out there soon, Capt. I'll be easy to spot. Look for the flogging main and the fenders still over the sides.

Lubber's Log, Update from 13 Aug.:

Since meeting Capt. Scott, I've been busy in between the inconvenience of having to work. I've finished my 9' hitch extension for my Jeep and the boat has been slid back on th trailer a few inches so one man can lift the tongue without popping a gourd. A couple other items mentioned by Capt. Scott have been addressed and I think she is ready to go LD weekend.

Plan A is to launch, tie up and observe rudder fitting and keel crank function. Then, if all is well, pull 'er out and step the mast, launch-n-go.

Hey John.

Just an FYI, At the 10Th ST ramp, if possible, stick to ramps 7,8,or 9. They are the deepest! DO NOT use ramps 1,2,or 3! They are the shallowest! Your jeep will have to be completely submerged to get you boat to float there! LOL! Also remember, you are talking a 3 day weekend! The ramp will be busy so maybe a day early? I was out Saturday in Lady Jo and in the AM, the ramp parking and side parking in the dirt was FULL! Fishing and all. Guess humpies are in. Plus this weekend is the last day for crabbing so you will get a bigger cowd too.

I can garantee a show at the ramp. The hitch extension is 9ft long and has a silly double tire swivel bogey out near the ball. Then comes the trailer itself. If I hung paper flowers on it, the whole rig would pass for a Rose Bowl parade float. So, stay away, by any means - even if it takes Destiny to do it. You won't wanty to know me this sunday.

As for the Jeep being submerged: Not a chance unless I forget to set the brake. I might fall in, but not the Jeep.

Too bad for all those other guys. I'll need alot of ramp time before I actually leave the dock. I plan to slip her off the trailer, go below and watch for any leaks at the rudder tube for a few minutes, lower and raise the keel (as far as the depth will let me), then retrieve the boat and go step the mast.

If it leaks or if there is a problem with the keel mechanism, I'll take it home and go to work on her a few weeks early.

I've been there for humpies and all other salmon. I know exactly how to handle those idiots.

So the plan is to have a day out, then moor it at one of the guest docks for the week. I got the details from the nice lady at the office. Piece-o-cake. Maybe see you out there. Look for the distinctive profile of a C-22.
