Well, we took off for 10 days on Destiny!
Spent the entire time in Canadian waters in the Southern Gulf Islands!

No kids this trip! Just My wife, our dog, and me!

We had a great time, great weather and met with some great friends!

Thanks for sharing, it looks like a great time. How do you like the Walker Bay dink?

I really like it for just piddling around. There is however, not much freeboard left when I get in. I sit roughly center on the floor and when I tack I must use caution! I could easily swamp it in either rear corner.

The boat weighs in at 75 lbs or so and I can carry it myself. I have the smaller version of two. Great for calm or protected waters. Light breeze too. I added the drain plug to mine. The older ones don't have the drain. Since we hang it on davits I do not want it filling with rain water.

Sails like a bathtub with a mast. Perfectly fine but do not expect to win races or beat close to the wind! LOL!

Diane and I can toss it on the bow of Destiny easily!

My recommendation is that they are absulutly great if you are aware of the things I listed above! I would not hesitate to replace it with the same boat if I had to. They are in abundance used around here. I found one cheap with a sailkit that was brand new.

I would buy the tube kit and still might add one for the extra floatation. As is the little boat is really only for one adult.

My exclusive use is for sailing around quiet harbors after dropping anchor.

Notice all the photos with the walker bay on the arch? I was in the inflatable. We took two dinghys! LOL!


For our needs the walker bay is not a good dinghy. To small and slow. Maybe with the inflatable tubes but without, no way for two adults in any kind of wave action.

I was going to ask if you took two dinghys.
It's good to be prepaired.
May years ago on a charter in the Bahamas we opted for two dinghys, but that was because half the crew liked to bar hop and the other half liked to snorkel.

Yes, We sometimes take a pair of kayaks too. But lack of daughter left us not excited about kayaking this year. We love to do it but limited time and more hassle.

The walker bay is strickly for harbor sailing. No rowing to shore or such.
The inflatable is indeed our taxi. 10.2' + 15hp == speed! we can go long distances with the inflatable which opens up our ability to retsock from more remote places! Or . . . .hit that pub that sells putine! LOL!
