Sunday Sail Video

Post by Bhacurly »

Hello the Forum!!

Pam & I went out for short "3 hour tour" a week ago,,,

Winds were 5-15 with gusts to 40... We mounted a GoPro camera on a whisker pole just for fun... It tuned out be a distraction as it was always flipping around. It was our first breezy, gusty day this year and we were definitely rusty on our sailing skills

Initially the camera was extended all the way on the pole, then we brought it in half ways, then I wore it on my head... I had to edit a lot to keep the horizon close to upright as the camera rotated 360'.

The video is ~35 mins long. It was a test sail for the pole and thinkin I need to get a fishing rod holder to secure it to... I like the further out look for seeing the lake, boat and horizon. You see the gusts coming also.

Hope you don't get sea sick watching it! The next one should be more stable, but there are some nice parts in the video.

OH YEAH!!!! real nice Billy...poor Pam trying to keep that pole from twisting, LOL... I liked when the starboard rail was in the water...my wife would be screamin'...the best view was when the cam was midway down the pole.
I think I will try a pole off the aft end...it looks real good there. You have some challenging winds where you sail...keeps you hoppin'.

Billy/All, saw this item and thought about this thread..device you can attach to wrist (or whatnot) and the camera drone will follow you. If ad is accurate and true, this could be way cool if ever developed !

Nice perspective view. I get tired of shooting the same angles. Nice country over there. I haven't been on the Forum that long so it's great to put a face and a setting to the posts.

Nice video Billy!
Some good sailing there!

Hey EE,
I want an air dog! LOL!
It would be interesting to see how well it would work in 15Kts of wind!
