Looking to get a "NEW" motor. Any recommendation for my C26?
Currently have a Sailor 250 without spark and a Force 5 that won't start without a hit of ether. Would like to get a motor that will rest on the OE mount but I read that 4 strokes will not fit/tilt. I know I know "fix the Chrysler" will be brought up but we want something a little more "bullet Proof".
Thanks
Steve

I recently bought a new motor for Venture South.I got a 9.8 Tohatsu with electric start. Its a little overkill for that boat but it was the smallest they had with electric start. I wanted electric start in case a crew member needed to start it.A neighbor has a 6 hp that is a single cylinder that runs a little rougher than the 2 cyl 9.8. The one I got is the 25" shaft and high thrust prop. It would be a great motor for a 26.
Several people on here have them and really like them. I got mine online with free shipping.

So I buy the 9.8 Tohatsu. What would be the quickest way to adapt my OE motor mount to handle this motor and tilt function.

The person I bought my Honda from mounted a Garlik mount on the back of the OE mount on his 26.He beefed up the OE mount with angle. It worked well. My plan is to close up the transom on the my 26 and mount the Garlik off to 1 side to avoid interference with the prop.

Onlineoutboards.com. They had a leftover available at the time. I would've only saved less than 100. but the 13's have the shift lever foward on the coel. that's nice. It also came with a 3 gallon tank.
I was using a 6 hp Johnson that I had to spray to start when it was cold. after that it would start all day long as long as it was warm. But... even after a 2 hr sail on a 90* day it would need to be sprayed again. I had it to 2 different shops and looked at it myself. I finally got frustrated and went new.

I bought a lightly used 2007 version of this motor. Electric start is FANTASTIC!
Love the motor!

I bought a Suzuki DF9.9THX from these guys:

I got the remote model, but I don't think Suzuki will let them sell the remotes online anymore. Plenty of power, 25" long shaft to keep the prop in the water, power tilt, electric start. I have had no trouble at all with it in 3 years.
What made me choose the Suzuki over the others was larger engine displacement (the others use gearing to get "high thrust") and a little more charging capability. If you want even more power, a set of carb jets will turn it into a 15hp.
