Pop top upgrades.

Have any of you with 22 pop tops put gas strut assist to lift them? I've never seen any posts relating to that and was wondering. I've been going to do it to at least 1 of my Ventures. They are killers to lift. Its a popular upgrade on the McGregor Owners forum and looks pretty easy.
I was just wondering if the C22 is set up to easily add struts.

I do not have a pop top on my 26 but do not see where it would hurt but you might need to put some type of hook on it so it will sit all the way down when closed so rain doesn't blow in.

Yeah, but bet you've 'popped a top' on them...

I have a pop top, and I have put a little thought about if gas struts would help or not. But since I only use the pop top a couple times a year the expence does not seem worth it. With the proper procedure it's not hard raise the roof, and I sure enjoy standing head room on my C22 when at anchor.
If I remember Ventures have one piece support struts, which would make adding gas struts easier (correct me if I'm wrong). The C22 pop tops use a elbowed 2 piece support struts, that would make it harder to design a gas assist strut system.
But who knows, maybe some day while anchored in a quite cove, enjoying the sunset, with a cool beverage in hand, the C22 gas assist pop top raising system design will come to me

...but I wouldn't count on it

I have the C22 Pop-Top. I like the idea but I rarely use it. If I used it more then say once every other year, say maybe ten times a year I'd do it. However I think I will go with the K.I.S.S. principle on my C-22 for now.
Now if it were a bigger boat with the corresponding bigger hatch. It would be a must.
Thanks

I keep the pop tops on the 26 in the cooler . . . Usually 24 at a time.
