Several of you have asked me: "whats is up with the Chrysler 27? we don't see that very much" And to be perfectly honest with you, I haven't found much on the web about them either aside from the obligatory spec sheets and stock drawings. I am, however, very glad I found the "andante" A 1979 Chrysler/TMI 27 designed by Charley Morgan himself. I am not sure how many were made. But I am having a hard time tracking down may others aside from my own. She was one hell of a upgrade from my 1964 Chrysler Buccaneer which I still run in the south Bay on the weekdays.

I would like to thank all of you who have welcomed me to the site. Not all of the info really pertains to me considering it is mainly 26 based. I do however love sailing. I love the weather. I love taking people out and teaching them. But above all I love being among kindred spirits. And this I believe we can all agree we are. Because we are all willing to pit our self agents the elements with nothing but our wits and our lovely old boats.

You said it great and I agree whole heartedly.

It's amazing what a one foot difference can make in a sailboat... not that I'm displeased with the C26 I'm working on, but it would have been nice to have seen more of the C27s come off the line.

There's also about another foot of beam in there and that makes a big difference. Would have been nice to see where Chrysler would have gone if the bailout hadn't forced the selloff..

I think you really nailed it EE. The 10' beam makes a world of difference especially coupled with the head forward layout. She is roomy even for most 27's I have been in (Hunters/Cats). She is one big girl. The only thing is the fixed keel. Drawing just under 5' means you need to mind the charts. Even more so if the waves are up. I bounced bottom last week in 3' seas (45+ knot gusts) on a shoal off of Green Island trying to cut back into the lee. Chart said 10', but hey we all know charts can be wrong. Good thing for fast reflexes on the young guys and a boat that can turn on a dime, even in those seas.

Yeah, come to think of it, thats actually about 2 feet more in the beam..9.9' against 8'

I love that boat! I can just picture one of those in my driveway. Of course, my driveway would not be the same driveway I have now. It would be a different drive way. Different from the one that would go to my old house which now belongs to the ex!. LMAO, Better to ogle from afar for now.
