10 hours of sailing = A great night's sleep

Saturday we took Copacetic out. Sunny, 15 knot southern breeze, one foot waves... It doesn't get better than that. After sailing aimlessly for a little bit, we decided to head for Kenosha even though it was straight into the wind. Southern Lake Michigan was so flat that we saw 12-14' aluminum fishing boats 4 miles out.

We had a long, but fun day of beating into the wind. At one point I reefed the sails as the wind piped up a bit. We were fine, but the first mate was a little uncomfortable with our heeling angle, and besides, it was a nice day for reefing practice.

Once we got to Kenosha, we simply turned around for the downhill run back to Racine.

The only real excitement of the day came during my docking approach. With south wind now at 15-20, tieing to the north side of our east/west dock is a bit of a challenge for us. The First Mate thought fast and sprang into action, saving me from further embarrassment.

All in all, a great day of sailing!

We counted 12 sailboats offshore at Pennoyer Park in Kenosha, Sunday afternoon. Didn't see Copacetic go by....some were at the edge of the horizon. It sure looked sweet out there...glad you had a great sail.

Sounds like a great day on the water..my experience for the weekend was limited to walking the docks at Crystal Cove in Boston drooling, so I envy you big time !

(Up that way for son's wedding in CT)

WOW!
You guys had fun!

I was busy doing brakes on three cars!
My pu, my brother in laws PU and my other brother in laws car! YIKES!
All done Sunday.

We did have some fun afterwards though! Hamburgers on the grill and a bunch of side dishes made the evening nice!

Tom...rendezvous sounds good, but I am still working on my boat to get her seaworthy. I'll have to wait until next season to get on the water...(sad face)
