Rescued Mutt advice

Just rescued this Mutineer from a storage lot, and I need advice. I want to condition and protect the hull and deck but I'm not sure where to start.
I couldn't find exactly what I needed by search, will someone please assist?

Very nice boat and welcome aboard Cactupuss! We have several Mutts in our CreekFleet and they're little beauties. Built like tanks too, the Chrysler way! I'd use (and do use) Liquid Glass. I applied two coats to a very oxidized bright yellow '79 O'Day Widgeon and an oxidized to baby powder blue '71 O'Day Daysailer with great success. My C-20's still got a glow from the beginning of last season. The stuff has to bake in the sun for four hours before buffing out, but it lasts a loooong time. It's a little higher priced than your normal wax, but a little goes a long way when putting it on with a 9" buffer and pretty quick work too.

Cleaning/conditioning fiberglass?

Thank you Bruce for your suggestion of the Liquid Glass, does that also clean and condition the fiberglass? I have some dark spots where dirt/dust accumulated, the boat was uncovered for about a year.

Hi Cactupuss, The dark spots should come out between cleaning and rubbing out. also, pls excuse my memory lapse here. Liquid Glass is a hard polish
that requires prep. Now i remember that I did use a Walmart liquid paint prep after an initial washing to remove all the wax on the yellow Widgeon, and then a fiberglass rubbing compound to remove the heavy oxidation before putting on the Liquid Glass. The better your prep, the better your results will be.

I also used regular LG-100 because it was given to me and worked very well on gelcoats too. One 16oz can lasted for all three boats (two coats on the Widgeon). They do make a nautical formula that can be used on wood boats too and the price is the same I believe.
All in all this was a one day process. I got better results with the Widgeon and C-20 because of the additional prep. Next year, I will try the official Liquid Glass pre-cleaner and see if it make any difference.
BTW, I'd highly recommend a buffer! This would be a horrible job to do by hand and you'd go through a lot more product.
