I just couldn't help myself. Woke up this morning and saw a newly posted O'Day DaysailerII out on CL for cheap cheap cheap. Called the number and it went to a filled voice mailbox. Phew!, I thought, now I don't have to splain to the wif whats in the driveway again. Two minutes later, the guy calls back and says to meet him at noon. A solid boat throughout with all the parts and plenty of oxidation to make it look b-ugly and cheap....PERFECT! It's supposed to be sunny and in the sixties tomorrow and Wednesday. Needless to say, sailing season will officially begin in Ray MI....... TOMORROW!



BTW, the wif asks why I would get rid of the Chrysler, it can fit more people in it more comfortably. "Precisely my dear!!!" Can't argue with logic like that! BTW2. I did re-list the DSll, if it sells without lifting a buffer - c'est la vie

That is a neat looking boat! I do the same many times over! Buy an ugly old eye sore and turn her into a diamond!

Everyone is happpy! I believe some of the boats I've owned have managed to whisper "Thank You" to me! My ole' blue C22 was my favorate recovery until my current C22!


Congrats on a hobby which you throw tons of money and work at and manage to make just a few bucks! LOL! It truley is a labor of love if you add the cost of time!!

Every thing Scott said, an I will add on to that. Man can have only one wife, but having two boats should be OK. I have three, but no wife. The C-20 is a good boat, fun in big weather. I have had my C-20 out sailing with 4 foot waves an 30 mile per mile winds, fealt safe an had a lot of fun. That O-Day lookes good but I don't think it would hold up as will as the C-20 in ruff water. I have a Macgregor 25 when it gets windy an ruff it's time to head for shore an take the C-20 out for a fun sail. The Mac. an the C-20 way the same, size an weight does make a diferance. An the C-26 has a BIG caban, so for a week-end sail it is hard to beat. Happy Sailing days comming soon. Ray Michigan I will look that up on my mape, wonder how apert we are. We have a guy with a DS at the club, nice little boat !! Used to have a couple but one owner retired and moved back to NY state..

I couldn't do it! Had my DS2 out there for $1000. A ton of calls, a several stop ins. When one of the stop ins called back at night to see if she was still available, I choked and said.... NO, decided to keep her Then he was very interested in the C-20 I told him I'd let him have it as she stands for the same price. Panicking, I gave him a run down of my complete todo list, need for an extra long shaft engine, eventual need for another trailer, keel patch, ect, ect,ect. I couldn't flipping believe it, I basically sold the C20...... BACK TO MYSELF!

Ergo, plan #2 sail the DS2, take my time and enjoy working in the C20 while waiting for the right priced engine and trailer to fall on me. Use the C-20 as a pleasure cruiser for bigger lakes and the DS2 to dump into the local pond on afternoons for a 'quickie'. I spent bout the price of about 4 visits to a shrink on these boats so far, no medication and am always smiling (when I'm sailing or working on them).

BTW, named the DS2 DASHAWAY, after the O'Day Daysailer Jimmy Stewart sailed in Mr. Hobbs Takes a vacation. (click the pic to to that bit of the flick)

You'll not get any argument out of me. I'm supposed to be selling the Coronado C15, but its not hurting anything being behind the shed, and its perfect for light days on the lake thats a half hour from my house !! Or for towing to camping trips..

Good Plan, I have an outboard to lone to you when you head north. I payed 2400.00 for my C-20 & 2300.00 for the C-26 & 1300.00 for the Mac. 25

When I got the C26 I was supposed to sell the Newport and finally had to I was tempted to sell the wife but I do love her so I sold her (Newport) for the 700 I paid for the C26 and the bride likes it so I guess I won so far. As soon as the village gets the docks in I will be launching the C26.

First sea trial of Dashaway made yesterday. I'm not sure what the wind MPH was, maybe 8 I'd guess, but it was gorgeous! The '71 O'Day Daysailor test run was a complete success. Not a drop of water drained out of the hull and all inspection ports were bone dry after 3.5 hours. A much faster boat than the Widgeon or C-20. I've never sailed that many times around Stony in one afternoon. Gosh I love oldies but goodies....and cheapies I HAVE to get out again before it snows around here. an added bonus too: I didn't go through my usual calamitous first of the season launch and docking debacle.
Although this boat is fast and fun, It's not in the same league as the 20 when it comes to peace and comfort.

The village got the docks in so My Getaway should be on within a week.

Congrats on the docks getting in Lyle. This early spring heat wave must have been rough to get through. I see upper fifties next weekend for your end. Not balmy, but it'll do if you need it.

I will sail in anything above 45 and if I need to warm up I can cook something and get back to sailing.

Cool flick, an a nice o-day you have there. I took a drive to see my slip, an to check out my dock. All looks good, but only one pontoon boat is in the water.

I think winter is back talking about 21 degrees tonight. March is going out like a lion it came in like a lamb.

They are calling for 60s today, I just hope we don't get a big freeze. It is almost like a year as gone by in just one month first three days of spring five days of summer and now it's fall again. Never seen anything like this

I got frost on my pumpkin when I went out this morning! I love Michigan. Good time to do some maintenance today. I don't know how those southern guys ever get anything done on their boats with all that good weather. When it hits 70 and the sun shines, I wanna be gone baby, gone!
